Sound Problems

Please i have a problem hearing any sound on my system.
Anybody with the solution should pls help me.:tisk:

XavierP 09-01-2006 09:27 AM

I have moved this to Linux Newbie. On to your problem:
which distro are you using?
what's your hardware?
what have you tried already?

And I have renamed your thread because "Help Me!" tells us nothing at all about your problem.

jstephens84 09-01-2006 09:33 AM

Have you ran alsamixer to make sure that your sound and PCM is not muted?

Bamitola 09-07-2006 07:25 AM

Soundcard

Thank you very much for your last contribution,i check into my soundcard, i couldn't get any sound and as a result i got this message:

Automatic detection of soundcard did not work.
Audio will not be available on the system.
You can inspect/root/scsound.log and file
a new bug at http://bugzilla.redhat.com.

I have try this for long which they never reply
me with any solution.
Any help will be appreciated.

You can inspect/root/scsound.log and file
a new bug at http://bugzilla.redhat.com.

I had the same issue. I installed all the latest updates with yum and then a redetection of the soundcard did help. Maybe works for you also.

Bamitola 09-14-2006 06:58 AM

I really appreciate you all,but what are you telling me to update?
ls it the Fedora Core 5 or what?
If it is,what command do i use from the terminal, because FC5 does not update
normally,but from the terminal.
Thank you very much for all this,Love you all.

mwildam 09-14-2006 10:04 AM

Code:

yum update
This updates everything - I don't know if this is really what you want to do but I cannot tell you the exact library that solved my problem.

It is like the Windows Updates =:o)

Bamitola 09-15-2006 06:09 AM

Let me paint this picture clearly.I have a Dell product (INSPIRON| B130)
Which may not be in circulaion while FC5 was publish,My soundcars for windows work perfectly, but for my linux thats where i have problem.
I guess i need an update but how?
Thank you.

mcmahonc 09-15-2006 03:13 PM

I had an issue on my Dell Latitude. In the BIOS there's a setting for sound giving you the options for 'half-duplex', 'full-duplex' and 'disable'. After wrestling with my sound for days, I finally got my sound recognized and no little red x over the speaker icon. I still couldn't get it to work. It wasn't until I changed it in the BIOS to 'full-duplex' that I actually was able to use it.
