Sound Problems

Every time I start KDE I get a fatal error sound server message: /tmp/mcop-jim is accessible owned by user. I'm running RedHat 9. When I first installed, the sound worked fine however I forgot that I had a winmodem in my system (Win Xp on previously), so I took that modem out and installed a new US Robotics hardware modem. Since then I've had the problem with the sound. I've tried plugging the winmodem back in to see if that would, for some unknown reason, fix the problem but it doesn't. Any ideas?

Maybe there is a resource conflict. Is the new modem an internal modem? Sometimes just changing slot will fix such problems.

Could you run dmesg and post the lines related to the modem and the sound.
