hello
i have just started using ultimate ubuntu 1.7 christmas edition.
when i log in
1)i don't get any sound in video files when i play them
video players like vlc.

2)my mp3 files run well in xmms except that i don't have any
control on volume through keyboards/volume control in xmms/ operating
system. i.e i can't increase or decrease volume through any software on
linux.

3)i can't run mp3 files in video players like vlc.

after i try to run video files on xmms
3)video file doesn't run on xmms. but then i can play
the video files in video players like vlc.

4) i can't run my mp3 files in xmms.

5) i can control volume through volume control available in the player/
linux/ keyboard.

please help
