Sound problem !!!!

Hi .
Today I installed a mandrake (10.1) on my computer beside my win XP . It was doing well & I was doing my job on internet & listening to Music . I did restart my pc & after it the sound was mute ! I remove mute check but it still didnt give out any damn sound signal ... and the speaker mark suddenly removed from my KDE panel .
while mandrake has known my on board sound card , i cant listen to music , the player reads , but no sound from my speakers .... I checked my speakers in windows & they were okay !!!!
What should I do ???? & how can I bring back my speaker mark on my KDE panel .
with regards ,

I've never used Mandrake, so I do not know if this helps...

The last time I saw this kind of a situation, it was simply because the volume mixer was set to zero volume! Why don't you try fiddling around the settings of kmix? Just run the command kmix, and the speaker symbol will be back on your K-panel

Hope this helped you.

try taking out your sound card and reboot. let it boot all the way and log in. Then turn your computer off and plug in the card, reboot and you should be able to configure it again, as anoop i dont use mandrake but it should work
