Sound not working in fc2

Okay, ever since i've had any linux my sound was never detected, so i wanted to install alsa, but to no avail. Anyway the other day i popped in knoppix again, and magically the sound started working. After i installed fc2, i hoped it would work too, but not my lucky day. It was perfectly detected, but plays no sound whatsoever, even the test sound. I played with the volume controls, and that didn't wor either.

so my question is... can i figure out how knoppix is using my sound, and integrate it into fc2?

What sound card are you using?

The thing with Knoppix is that it has drivers for about 90% of everything in existance.

It's a generic intel integrated sound, but can i just copy my sndconfig file from knoppix and put it into fc2? The one that's under /etc/modutilis/
That's where sndconfig outputs to.
