I am using slackware 9.1 and just installed Firefos and flashplayer 6. here is the problem. the graphics work great, but no sound. I do have sound in everything else. xmms etc. what is strange to me is that the flash sound id working in the Konqueror web browser, but none of the other.

any suggestions?

this is not a permissions problem.
if problem occurs in KDE
go to K/ Settings /Control Center/Sound& MultiMedia/Sound SYstem
uncheck Start aRTS soundserver

log off/log back in

open up a terminal window and type esd

open up mozilla and try the web site giving you the flash sound problem

Everything should work

configure your X startup script and make sure esd loads

if problem occurs in another X windows just make sure esd is running

** this is not an Alsa solution
