Sound Drivers for Compaq Armada 7800
Hello all,
I loaded Mandrake 9.0 on a Compaq Armada 7800 and I have no sound, checked to see if this question had been posed before. Here are the specs on the laptop ... Processor Intel Mobile Pentium II 266Mhz Cache = 512KB Memory: 64 Upgradeable Hard disk: 5.0GB Floppy Drive: Display: LCD = 13.3 Active Matrix (TFT) Video Resolution: 1024 x 768 Video Controller: S3 ViRGE/MX Graphics Controller PC Cards: 2 PCMCIA Slots Ports: 1 USB PORT, RCA video out, 1 serial port, 1 parallel port, 1 VGA port, audio in, audio out, mic in PS2 style keyboard/mouse port , docking Multimedia: Integrated Sound System Onboard 32-bit sound system, built-in speakers, microphone in and headphone/stereo output jacks Wireless Support: 4Mbps infrared port I searched GOOGLE and found mostly items directed to WINDOWS. well, i'm having some similar problem with sound too. but as far i saw i think you may need to know more about your sound chipset. i think a quick surf at compaq support web site would give enough information about your sound system..

here is a guide to installing a generic linux os for your particular machine i found on the compaq site.
