Question Sound delay with Mandrake9.1 / SB Live

The first of many many questions.

Finally making the move from Windows2k to Linux. Got lots of questions/issues/problems, but let's start with this one.

Mandrake 9.1 install. SoundBlaster Live 4.1 using the emu10k driver.

The sound works, but is delayed by about 2 seconds. Click play in XMMS and takes a bit till the song starts. Advancing songs in the playlist, there's a delay until the next song starts. Quit XMMS while it's still playing and it takes a few seconds until the music stops.

Playing TuxRacer, there's the same delay in sounds from the game.

However, under Xine, playing DVDs, there's no delay in sound.

Any help out there?? And if you've got advice, please make it very explicit and verbose. I'm not a computer newbie, but I'm definitely a linux newbie.

I am having the same problem with my on-board sound (RealTek ALC650) In the past, I also noticed the same problem on a different machine with a SB Live! Plat. I was unable to fix it, but I may have been looking in the wrong place. I'd consider myself as a Lvl 2 or 3 Newbie, some experience with RH 6-8.

i have the same problem with my SBLive card. Oh well, I have just learned to live with it. At least I got 5.1 surround sound to work on it with digital out.
