sound card trouble ... HELP !!!
 

still having trouble with my sound card when playing mp3's ... iv got my sound card configured wich is VIA VT8233 AC97 audio with alsa emulation .... but when playing xmms the output plugin is oss with mpg123 does this make a diffrence ? i thought the output would be alsa ?

any help at all would be fantastic as its really racking my brain :)

running mandrake 9.2 under kde kernel 2.4

use the output pluggin that sounds best. for me it is the oss driver 1.2.8. i tried different pluggins and settings for a couple of days before i got satisfied w/ the sound. i actually got a second opinion from my wife after all the sound started running together so to speak.

fixed my sound problem some how hehe .... just unuinstalled all the sound devices and alsa then re-installed them and hey presto ! sounds without crackleing :D
