Question Sound Card

I have a sound card in my machine and I don't know how to get it to load. It knows what kind it is but I can't use it. Thanks.

I was also wondering if anybody knew any good Linux Download sites. I found out that you can get oracle for free and Java which I have already downloaded. I really want some better apps to go with my box. Thanks

hrmmm... those are two very general questions. more specifics please, if you want us to try to help. but... for downloads, there's freshmeat.net... gnome.org... sourceforge.net.
