Sound Card problem with Suse 9

I can't get my soundcard to work with more than one program at a time. So I went into the configuration using yast and tried to reconfigure my modem and it gave me the following error:

An error has occured during the installation of:
82801DB AC'97 Audio Controller

The kernel module and snd-intel8x0 for sound support could not be loaded. This can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ paramters.

What the heck does that mean and how do I fix it.
