Welcome to LQ

Possibly turn on DMA on your CDROM device? See 'man hdparm' for more info, search the boards, and if you can't find anything from those 2 things, feel free to post back, but basically, as root you should type something similar to:
/sbin/hdparm -d1 /dev/hdx
Where /dev/hdx is the CDROM device. You will need to have hdparm installed if you didn't get it during the install.

Cool

Ah, I see, I mis-interpreted your problem to be a slow AudioCD As far as your hdparm command, it looks like it's not install then (or is in another location) if you'd like you can install it.

Ok, so now I'm not sure what the problem is, does the song actually move real slow like it's in slow-motion, or does it play normal speed, but takes 5 seconds before you hear a sound, then 5 seconds more before you hear another?

Cool

slow-motion one is the only thing I can say. It plays continously but in slow motion

Hmm, do you have a decent CPU? Have you tried different sound options (in xmms)? What sound card do you have? (Post up the following (by opening up a terminal and as root typing):
lspci -v
So we can see things about your system.

Anything "odd" with your hardware you might wanna tell us?

Cool
