Sound and Battery Help
OK i am very new to linux and recently installed mandrake 9.2 and here are the problems 1 i dont have any sound and when i go to turn it on and hit apply it says it cannot open /dev/dsp can anyone help me?
Problem 2 does anyone know how i can get the battery monotar in my system tray when i go to turn that on it says that i need to install APM or ACPI and i dont know how to install eather of thoes Help would be appecated Exley |
ok you maybe have to install the alsa-driver as well as the alsa-utils check if you have audio support compiled into your kernel under /usr/src/.config but first i would try to run a mixer app to turn on sound for example alsamixer , gnome-mixer or others ...

ok i got my sound working by screwing with a couple drivers but now i need someone to help me get my battery meter to work can anyone help me do that?
