Sound...

The problem is that I can't get the music and such to work...
I'm now running slackware 10 and before that RetHat 9 and it was the same problem there.
The wierd part is the the warning-sounds work but not the cd player.

Anyone knows what's wrong?

Can you play mp3s - ie does your sound card and speakers work ?

Is the problem only with audio cds ? It is possible that the analogue audio cable from your cd drive to your sound card is missing. It this case, try playing the cds with XMMS, since it is capable of Digital Audio Extraction.

I hope this helps

no, can't play 'em...
<edit> sorry, I can play them with various programs (not CD Player)
but the speakers and sound card do work, (I hear the "close window" and "resize window" noises when I have them on...)
