sound


My speakers were working before, but all of a sudden, they wont work in Linux anymore. I went on the soundcard detection, and the test sound won't play anymore either. Why?

check the volume sliders on whatever mixer you are using........sometimes they re-set to the defaults levels........

Ok, I got to the sliders, and they are all up to the top and not on mute or anything. What else could be the problem?

I am also new at this and i dont have my sound card correctly configured yet because i dont know how.
But somewhere on the line i picked up that you should se if you got acces to audio group if you arnt logged in as root.

You might want to configure your sound card,I started from scratch deleated everything,they weren't working anyway,and configured one sound card,try oss first and if that doesn't work try alsa,david

I don't know what happened, but I had to log off before, now I'm logged back on and it works. lol
