Sorry! Nvidia Driver Troubles

Hey People,

I just installed Red Hat 9 today and i am trying to get the Nvidia drivers working. I have read your frequently asked questions page and have also looked at numerous other forums and tutorials on how to do this.

I have installed the drivers fine through the CLI. I have edited the FREEX86 config file to what everyone has told me. Changing the "nv to "nvidia" and commenting out the dri parts and GLCore which i didn't have anyway.

The Nvidia splash screen comes up but when i check my display properties i cannot check the "Use 3D Hardware" checkbox. I'm really stuck here.

My System Specs:

AMD 1800XP+
GF3Ti200
WInXP Pro and RH9

Thanks

Sean

The enable 3d checkbox doesn't seem to make a difference when using the Nvidia drivers. The check box is also not able to be check on my RH either, but everything still works fine. Run glxinfo from a terminal to see if direct rendering is enabled. glxinfo | grep direct If it says yes, then run glxgears to test.

Thank you irish_rover i did the glxinfo and glxgears and they both work. I guess that means that my 3D was actually working all this time.

alot of distros have that box grayed out and this doesn't mean you don't have 3dacceleration, if the driver is setup properly, then you have 3daccel....this was noted by an nvidia developer, and he pointed this out in the nvidia readme.
