sony vaio rb30 installation partitioning
 
I'm trying to install ubuntu 8.10 on a sony vaio rb30. When I get to the partitioning segment it allocates all available space to ubuntu and I am unable to modify the percentage.

Are you using the manual partitioning method? By default it will allocate all the space it can lay hands on.
Use the manual partitioning to change the amount of space you want to allocate to Ubuntu.
