Something about linux main and swap partition

I've read in many places something about that linux partition should be on an extended logical partition if you're trying to have both linux an win in the same machine, i used partition magic a few days ago to make both the linux and swap partition, I don't know why but somehow I make these two partitions primary (maybe i was just tired????, it was like 3am), so now I have 3 primary partitions and I'm running win Me and mandrake 9.2, so far nothing wrong has happened but I just wanted to know if i did something that could make my PC explode (you never know) or something.
