some quick info plz...

Hi,
I' ve got this old box here that I'd like to give a 'second life':
486dx100MHz - 32MB RAM - 850 MB HDD - 1 or 2 MB videoRAM...
...can't boot from CD

-> so you here me coming: I'd like to install a distro on this,...small but with a GUI (KDE or GNOME possible?), and i'd love to use it as a small webserver,...so I'll need apache/php/mysql on it too...

is this do-able?
any suggestions?

thx in advance!

Slackware would be a good choice, it runs on almost everything. Forget about KDE or GNOME with only 32 mb ram, but u could try fluxbox.

muah is right - GNOME and KDE are too bloated, they run slowly on even the fastest systems sometimes so a 486 would really struggle. Fortunately Slackware includes fluxbox and windowmaker - either one of which would be great for XF86.
