Software Updater does Not work on my Fedora 6

Hi everybody !

I am kind of newbie on Linux even though I love this SO.
Here is my problem, when I try to update the Linux software I get a message advising me this "It is not possible to get information for update, impossible to extract software information. It is possible that you do not have a network connection ". But I have checked me ip address, me network connections and seems to be OK because I can navigate on the Internet without problem. Also, I have read the related threads but no one applies to my trouble.
Can you please help me?..
Thanks a lot

Have you set the source/repository location (in your package manager) to get your updates from?

Xoduus: No I have not set anything on the source or repository, I am using the default since I installed it. I checked the files on /etc/yum.repos.d, but did not modified anything.
I hope you have an idea.
Thanks a lot
