Software Update problem - where is report ?
I've just upgraded to Fedora 9 and I have a lot of updates to do on the system. When I try to install the security updates, it ends with the gpk-update-icon popping up a message like "transaction error ...More information in the detailed report", or some message like that, it doesn't stay on the screen for very long.
Where is the detailed report ? |
Look in /etc/syslog (or possibly /etc/syslog-ng) if it's included in Fedora. There should be a config file that will tell you where the system log messages willl be written.
Also, look in /var (/var/cache, /var/log, and anything in /var relating to yum {Fedora file management if done with yum if i'm not mistaken]). With any luck, Fedora users may come along to offer better advice. |
OK thanks. I found /etc/yum.conf which pointed to /var/log/yum.log but it had no errors in it. So modified /etc/yum.conf to include error reporting - still no errors in the log file.
Then I discovered I could run gpk-update-icon --verbose, and that gives me all the information I needed. Thanks for your help and the pointers. Mike |
