Software for my distro?

Hi,

I am new. I am using PC Linux 2007. If I want to install new software, what is the best packages for me?

I played around with Xandros a few years ago and know there are RPM files, Debian Files and Tar gz files. Couldn't find anything that simple in the FAQ. I do know each distro has a type that works best.

What is the best to use with PC Linux?

Hello, welcome to LQ!

PCLinuxOS uses the Synaptic Package manager and you can install almost all of the software you could want or need from there. It's extremely easy to use and it is also the method of keeping PCLinux updated. Just click on the icon at the bottom of your screen for the package manager. You can easily see how to install new software. Also, there is a very helpful forum for PCLinux. Google and sign up for it if you plan on using PCLinux for the long term. It will be well worth it.
