can you please tellme the name of software for file transfer using ftp
i wanna open source for this.

The client is named ftp. On my system, the package is "lukemftp". You haven't indicated what you are running, except that it isn't Linux or Unix.

If you are running windows, use the ftp command.

the ftp itself does me fine... under gnome gftp worked well at times. this seems to have nothign to do with programming, moved to Linux - newbie. and please use a better title next time ehh?
