Socketcan question - reason for no candump output?
 

Hello,

I'm looking for some help with getting Socketcan to work.
I've watched several videos and read as much as I could find on the subject. Once my cables arrived, I tried running candump, but got no output.
I set up the can0 interface using 125000 bitrate then 500000, but neither showed any scrolling output at all.
The can0 interface was up, and the car was ON first then RUNNING, but still no streaming data.
I'm using ubuntu 16.04, USB2CAN adapter from 8Devices, a generic serial OBD2 cable, on a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee using ISO 15765-4 CAN (11 bit ID, 500 kbaud).
If anyone's used Socketcan successfully, please help me out. Thanks!
