So obvious I don't know where to start.........please HELP
"Wireless set up" should be simple but it's not tried so many things that I'm running out of options. This is my second Linux distro and loving it. Mint 10
doesn't seem to what to play by the book when it comes to setting up wireless. |
Wireless works just fine on Mint (though I did it on Mint 11 back in the day).
I no longer use Mint, but I do know that wicd is available in the repositories and is pretty easy to set up. Perhaps install that and try instead of the Mint default NM. |
will certainly try
|
If you install Wicd and then decide it's not helping and want NM back be very aware that you may need to reinstall Mint IF you haven't got NM and its dependencies in your apt cache. Just a word of warning so you don't end up doing alot more work than you expected cause things have gone belly up on you.
|
wpa_supplicant should be installed as standard on Mint anyway, so even in the event that wicd doesn't do the job, it should still be possible to connect using wpa_supplicant directly. (I'm working from memory here, but it was certainly installed in LMDE last time I used it).
