So, I've installed FC4. Seems to work but....

I've taken the plunge and installed FC4 on a dual boot machine.
Install seemed to go ok. I've got sounds, and pictures.
I can mount a windows partion and read it.
My next problem is to get on the net. So I bought a wireless dongle (rt2570).
Down loaded the appropriate tar file. Following the instructions from 'Serialmonkey's' FC4 how to.
When I get to the 'make' part I get :

make: *** failed /lib/modules/2.6.11-1.1369_FC4/build :
no such file or directory. Stop.
rt2570.ko failed to build!
make:*** [module] Error 1

The dongle vendor mentioned in an email about this
installation process:

'The problem I had was that they trivialise the
business of building against the kernel sources. You need a set of
sources which will build the kernel you actually have'.
Not sure what he meant by 'building against the kernel'.
I'm obviously missing a major step somewhere but not sure what it is!

After I had installed FC4 should I have done something else?
Once I get it on the net, I should be able to use Yum - whatever that is!
Any help appreciated.
Regards Shane Doveton.

Just install development tools and kernel development.

You need kernel sources, kernel headers and tools like automake, gcc and so on to build drivers.

They should all be in the above mention categories, though I'm not sure if this is the correct name.

Hi vbisis - thanks for the prompt reply. Just tried to re-boot FC4 and guess
what?
When I sign in it says 'cannot start session due to some internal error'.
Doh, guess I really have broken it now.
Not sure whether to retry FC4 or maybe I should try Ubuntu.

Thanks anyway.

If uv just started Linux then I would suggest Ubuntu..It's by far more noob friendly than FC4
