SMTP with POSTFIX

Friends,

I know smtp service comes with Sendmail , i.e, When i want to use SMTP service then i need to just start "service sendmail start " But if i want to start SMTP with POSTFIX , not with Sendmail i.e., i just want use SMTP service with POSTFIX without running SENDMAIL then what will i need to do ? plz inform me...................... Thx.......

Uninstall Sendmail Install Postfix and configure.. The Postfix website has lots of links to HOW-TO's for configuring Postfix in different ways..

On a Debian System I would simply apt-get install postfix which would automatically remove EXIM (Debians default smtp server) and it would install postfix with a basic configuration. Check the documentation for your distro to determine the proper way to install postfix.

I would also look at howtoforge there are a bunch of walkthrus for setting up servers/mailservers for quite a few distros, if you aren't sure how to set it up.
