smb share

I have set up a smb share successfully and browsable from windows. Root has writable rights as usual, and my other user does not. When accessing the share, I am not prompted for username/password and windows(XP) seems to log in automatically with user that does not have writable access. So copying or deleting files is not possible. How can I force samba to prompt me for credentials everytime I access the share, or otherwize, how can I renew credentials at will?

Also, from Linux, how can I assign write access to a different user to that shared folder. The howto's seem to be a tad vague.

Thanks guys

i think for windows to give you the prompt you have to log onto windows machine as different user than on linux machine.

the obvious lines in the smb.conf to try are
read only = no
writable = yes

also just general linux permissions have to be so that user can write

thanks, but that is what I mean, how do I specify write permission on a folder to a single user - for "general linux permissions".

I thought there might be a switch I could use when typing "run \\ipaddr /****" in windows.

Thanks
