SMB option greyed out for CUPS in KDEPrint

I must be missing something insanely easy. I am running KDE (on Slackware 9.1) on a windows network. I have been using SAMBA for some time now and have had no problems with it. I just went in to add a Windows shared printer through KDEPrint (Using CUPS, of course) and the SMB option is greyed out. I have never had this problem before on other linux systems I have used (running SuSE), and every part other part of CUPS and SAMBA seem to be working fine. I've found som stuff out on the web, but most involve recompiling CUPS with samba linkings. I did a check as one website suggested and CUPS already sees my SAMBA libraries. Any ideas on getting the SMB functionality for CUPS available through KDE's print manager?

- thanks

I have found this somewhere on the net:
Verify that your installation of CUPS has the smb backend with the following command:
ls -l /usr/lib/cups/backend/smb
If this file does not exist create it by issuing the following:
ln -s `which smbspool` /usr/lib/cups/backend/smb
The second command did not work for me, so I have created symbolic link with command:
ln -s /usr/bin/smbspool /usr/lib/cups/backend/smb
I have found out where smbspool is with command:
which smbspool
After that the SMB option was available.
