smb.conf file with a ; at the beginnng of the line

My smb.conf file has a ; at the begining of the line below

; smb passwd file = /etc/samba/smbpasswd

The ; above does not mean comment out like REM or # hence; redering this ineffective does it?

Thanks
John

It comments out the line... They use an octothorpe # to show a real comment, and a semi-colon to show a config option that is disabled. Either way, it gets skipped.

I will go ahead and remove the ; from the line. It appears pretty harmless, it just tells samba where to place password files.

Thanks and take care,
John
