Smart_host ???

I have setup a sendmail server 192.168.1.137 which is running RHEL AS 4 Update 6.I have added 192.168.1.140 as relay thorugh SMART_HOST Entry on that server.Whenever I am sending a mail it is relayed through relay server.

All I can see through:
#sendmail -bv < mailid >

And it displays relay (192.168..140).

How Can I know on relay machine logs if it is transfered through relay or not?

Do you mean how can you tell if the relay accepted the email? If so, have a look in /var/log/maillog for something like this:
Code:
Feb 9 05:14:33 myhostname sm-mta[30543]: n18JEVEK030540: to=<recipient@some.domain.au>, ctladdr=<me@myhostname.mydomainname.au> (1016/132), delay=00:00:01, xdelay=00:00:01, mailer=relay, pri=120437, relay=smart.host.address.au. [203.x.x.x], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (ok: Message 451228879 accepted)
The status of stat=Sent (ok: Message 451228879 accepted) tells you that the smart host has received the email from your SMTP server.

Do you mean how do you tell that the email has been delivered to the final recipient? If so, you either need to request a receipt notification with your email client (not reliable) or get access to the smart host's logs. I'm told you can also request the DSN information but I haven't had to do that myself.

When a mail is sent to recipient, it travels from mailserver to relay machine and finally to the Recipient Right? Now What I need is I want to check if it has really passed through relay or not.For that I need evidence from ONLY RELAY MACHINE...any logs defining the same as proof.

I understand that:
Code:
sendmail -bt <emailid>
can prove it but its only we run at mailserver side.
What about Relay?
