Unhappy smart tv running android

I recently bought a Smart TV, excited by the thought of a TV with Linux on it and the opportunities to experiment.
It actually runs Android 2.2.1 and has all the apps for a full mobile phone
I'd like to take it off and put a more accessible Linux distro on.
Any suggestions?

You'd have to be one he double hockey stick of a man to do that.

I'd forget about it unless you have more than a few web pages that tell exactly how to do this task.

Thanks jefro. I know what you mean but my problem is that with mobile phone software it is not really fit for purpose and I paid extra for the 'smart' bit.
If it was put on it can be taken off. The question is how and what with?
If I do find a way then I will share my experience here

Interesting idea. Do you have "root" or does the device have to be "jail broken"? You might check the xda forums. They are mobile phone centric but someone may have some ideas.

Good point mjolnir. I'll go to the Android specific forum and ask there, then come back and share the info, if any.
