Slow when receiving pop3 messages

When I try to check my email, it seems slow when downloading from my ISP's pop3 server. I don't see how it could be my internet connection since it is nearly a 3MB connection.

I'm using Evolution in Mandrake 9.1. I'm just wondering if there is something configured wrong? When I was using outlook it seemed faster receiving messages. Any ideas?

Perhaps the server or your own connection is really loaded?
