slow transfers

I just installed suse here at work and I'm having an aweful time downloading files. About 60% of the time the download stalls. If i pause the download and then resume it (using Opera) it will download another 3% then stall again. Nobody else seems to be having this trouble and I didn't either when I had windows running. Is there any reason the network might be treating this computer differently now?

It really depends on the type of network to which you are connecting. Can you give us more details? Also, do you get better results in any other browsers?
