Question Slow to browse MySQL database driven website on home server

Hi All,
I am having some problems viewing a website running off a home Fedora Linux server I have installed at home.

The situation is this. I have installed Fedora 6 and wanted to host my own website "www.broadyswebdesign.com" from home.
I have built the server and installed the LAMP configuration without too many problems.

At the moment I just have a temporary home page installed at www.broadyswebdesign.com. A static page witha Google Ad on it. This page loads really fast.

The problems arise here. Behind this static page I have a wordpress installation in a folder I have created.
I am not sure if it is because this is a database driven site, however I have found that this site is really slow to browse.
I am working on changes to the site so whenever I refresh the page to see the changes, I can wait 20-30 seconds for the page to reload.
This happens in the front of the wordpress site as well as the admin area.

The reason I ask could it be MySQL related is because I have installed other database driven sites in different folders and they are slow to browse as well. Sites like Joomla, DataLife Engine ect.

For my domain name I purchased broadyswebdesign.com and also purchased a static IP address from my ISP.
I then set up my router for the static IP address and got a windows hosting company I work with to host the DNS records for broadyswebdesign.com so that it points back to my static IP address.

I am not sure if I have gone about this the right way. I am a new to linux and am trying to teach myself as I go.

My goal for the Linux server is to host 2 websites from home. I am hoping for them to load fairly quick. My ADSL connection is 1.5mb.

Anyhelp on this problem would be greatly appreciated
Thanks...

It could be a MySQL issue, but as far as I know word press has the tables indexed correctly. What version of MySQLD are you running?
Ram is one thing that will affect how fast a query executes. You might want to look into that, this includes the swap partition but I assume that if you did a default install of fedora home server then this shouldn't be a problem.

If the system is older then you may want to consider not using X11.

When you login via the console and do:
show databases;
is that slow?

you can check mysqldumpslow to see if there queries that are being slow but the queries for an empty Wordpress should execute pretty quickly.

Thats about all the help I can give you off of the top of my head.

Post your system specs & MySQL configuration.
