Slow keyboard

Hi, I am currently using PC Linux. I am finding without any apparant reason my keyboard has become very slow. I have to hold a key for almost a full second before it gets printed on the screen.

This only happens in user mode. On the kde login screen and root desktop it is fine.

I thought I might be infected with something so i installed avast's rpm version but don't see any evidence of it working. Perhaps the linux version is hidden and working in the background. But it did say 100% installed.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Could it be some setting that got bungled up? Have you looked in the relevant settings? If you use KDE, have a look in KControl - Regional and Accessibility (or something like that) for the keybord settings. I remember there being something there called slow keys.

Thanks, i tried that but it did't do anything. I am still thinking it has to be an infection.

Do you know why the avast anti virus i installed is not displaying anywhere?

If I am infected with something it would funny cuz that was one main reason i gave up on windows.

one thing i forgot to mention is that recently i downloaded some stuff to allow me rip dvd's. I don't if that could have messed with my keyboard settings.

again, keyboard is fine when logged in as root.

Would it help if i deleted the user and added back the settings?

Try renaming the '.kde' directory in your home directory to something else, or delete it. It should reset your settings.
