Slow ftpserver transfers

I have a basic config file.. nothing added nor removed.
It runs through inetd.

I'm on slackware 10.0 kernel 2.6.8-1
I'm on 100 mbit card but can hardly get over 60-200 kbit, and that is very very slow.
but using ftp-client on the other hand will allow me to download with nearly 100 mbit ..
so nothing wrong with hardware, only software.
how can I change this?

i'd suggest replacing the network card i had the same problem.
dont get any cheap ones you pay the price in performance.
try to avoid any realtek ripoffs.
go intel or 3com, netgear etc.
