Slitaz 3.0 dell inspiron 8500 no keyboard

Hi, I have a Slitaz 3.0 install on a UBB stick (via tazusb). It uses the cooking version. After a boot, all seems to be working except for the keyboard. Not a good start. Nothing wrong with the keyboard (typing this in Ubuntu and no probs in XP) so must be something wrong in Slitaz. Any help with this issue would be gratefully received.

Many thanks in advance

During the boot process you should have a prompt with a
language/keyboard setup. Did you?

Check your Grub's menu.lst see if you have kmap=uk -layout uk
on the kernel line. If it doesn't work try 'us' instead. heh

Is this a stable a version OS?

Thanks for reply. I typed "en" on boot. Following your suggestion I have tried "us" on boot and this works. I'm using a cooking version. I tried out the stable version and whilst this gave my preferred uk mapping straight off the bat I had trouble getting on the net. I get better graphics resolution with the cooking version. There are still some glitches: no wireless connection (doesn't detect the dell 1370 wlan mini-pci card) no joy with this in stable either. Mouse tapping is absent (present in stable version).
