sleep mode command?

mandrake can put the computer into sleep mode (shut down all hard drives and system fans) automatically after about 30 minutes of inactivity. is there a command i could use to get the system into this state now?

I think Mandrake uses ACPI, so try something like:
echo 4 > /proc/acpi/sleep
