try the 'netconfig' command possibly as root?

At the very least it'll ensure that your settings are correct.

when I do netconfig it asks for a domain name which I don't have and it insists on having one but I don't I cant skip that partg of the wizard so whenever I do a netconfig I just need to write anything there like "agjagaj" or "hslkds" it doesnt matter cause my home network doesnt have domain nor a domain name

hmm maybe I'm doing things wrong like what I tried since now are:
pppoe-setup which didnt exist
adsl-setup which tried to configure connection starter to adsl accout which my modem already has embeded
dhcpcd \
dhcpcd eth0 \__ non of them was able to get my ip address at most they were successful at geting my mac address only the rc.hotplug
dhcpcd -d eth0 / script could get my ip with dhcpcd -d -t 20 eth0 command but writing that command manually after boot up doesnt work
dhcpcd -d -t 20 eth0/
ifconfig eth0 x.x.x.x broadcast x.x.x.x netmask x.x.x.x
checked the rc.module file for support for my nic and it does
I tried to connect to the ip of modem from konqueror whic has the configuration page but it couldn't
this is the last place where I am anyone who could give any other idea or fix sth I'm doing wrong?

ok so I searched around and learned that there is sth called pppoa and my modem is configured to connect that way. So it is not using pppoe and it has it's own script inside to connect to internet like you write you password and username inside the modem configurator. I wonder if this would make a difference in how I could make internet work on slax??
