SlackwareLive wont start up when i popin the disc
 
Hey guys

i downloaded this Slackware Live thing and it is supposed to be like a Knoppix kinda thing where linux runs completely off the cd but i have a problem

it wont autoboot

i changed the bios to boot from disc but it doesnt read anything in the disk o_O

oh yeah when i downloaded it, it came as an .ISO file

should i extract it then burn it?

You should burn it as an iso image with whatever software your using, nero or adaptec, etc. I would guess right now you just burned the iso file straight to your cdr which won't work.

Burn as iso, and it should do the extraction and burn the cd correctly for you. Also its always best to check your cdr's with md5sums as well, to see if they match up with the site's image you downloaded from.

correct me if I'm wrong but md5sums is an executabe which checks the validity of what's on your installation disk.

You should be able to download it from the site that you downloaded the iso file from.

Also if the iso image burns as one big file you've done something wrong. If this is the case download iso recorder for windows. I'm sure that theres a way to do this in Linux also. I don't know how to go about doing that though.
