Slackware install over Mandrake boot prob

Hi,

I am still new to Linux, and trying out different distro's to see what they are like. I had Mandrake 9.2 for about a month, played around and learned a lot.

Last night I downloaded slackware 9.1 and for a new guy like myself, its a little trickier, no nice gui setup and stuff......but thats not where my problem is......whenever I get to the configuring lilo part, I try to install it to my MBR and there is an error....it just says I will have to boot my system with a floppy, and configure it later. this is after installing all the slackware packages etc...everything going well. when I reboot, the mandrake 9.2 boot loader still comes up if I boot from HDD....how do I get rid of it?
Thanks.

Sath

I figured it out.

I just ran fdisk /mbr with a win98 boot disk, and reinstalled all over....but feel free to suggest a beter way!

If you didn't make a boot floppy, you can still boot into slackware with the installation disc. When you get to the boot prompt, you just pass the right parameters. Are you keeping mandrake on there? If you are, you could configure the mandrake lilo to offer you the option of booting into slack. The configuration file is in /etc/lilo.conf. I personally find grub much easier to work with, especially where multiple linux distros are concerned. If you're not keeping mandrake, you can boot into slack and launch the bootloader configuration with # liloconfig, I think, or something like that.
