Slackware doesn't see free space
 

hi,

i'm trying to install slackware linux 12.2 for the first time on my laptop. The laptop currently has windows vista on and has 2 drives C:\ and a D:\ recovery one. The vista disk manager sees those and also my newly created 26GB free space (unallocated)

When I boot up Slackware and launch cfdisk it just shows 1 partition and says it's around 600MB in size.

can anyone advise me?

Can you post the output of fdisk -l from the command line

root@slackware:/# fdisk -l

Then on cfdisk it says:

disk drive: /dev/hda
696mb

and free space is only 690.93

And on VISTA is shows I have C:\ as 89GB, Recovery D:\ as 2GB and I have around 26GB unallocated.

It looks like cfdisk is indicating your CD or DVD drive. Try:
