slackware-current nox?
 

I want to install slackware current, but don't know what files to download. There are:

[ ] slackware-current-20100104-dvd.iso 04-Jan-2010 08:30 1.8G
[ ] slackware-current-20100104-noX.iso 04-Jan-2010 08:31 543M
[ ] slackware-current-20100108-dvd.iso 08-Jan-2010 11:39 1.7G
[ ] slackware-current-20100108-noX.iso 08-Jan-2010 11:40 563M

What noX means? Do I have to download both 20100104 and 20100108 dvds?

Where are you downloading these from? There is no official ISO of Slackware-current, so you are at the mercy of whoever put the ISO together, not to mention that the -current tree could conceivably be broken at the time the ISO is generated.

In this case, whoever put these ISOs together apparently did versions with and without the X window system in an effort to make the ISO smaller. But even his full DVD ISO isn't really the complete Slackware tree, judging by that file size he certainly left out the source, and possibly even /extra.

I suggest that you use 'Alien_Bob's-script -mirror-slackware-current.sh' to download -current and create cd/dvd ISO images. By doing this you can create valid ISO images without the worry.

That same individual is probably using Alien Bob's script but modified.

I still recommend to use the same script individually as that would be the safest secure method to have the ISO locally. Plus the ISO can be updated whenever you decide to check the changelog.
