Slackware and pop3 emails

i have installed an Slackware and configured a local
network which goes through a lan and wlan adapters.
Everyhtnig is working great but now i was thinking of
making an user accounts ... i wanted to setup an mailserver
so we could send emails but to access them and read
them via pop3 not localy at console ...

what is the easiet way to doo this for a newbie
is sendmail all that i need or should i install something
else ... what should be configured from system to work
properly ??? i managed to connect to a pop3 and check
for mail ... but the problem is with sending the emails
from client software and from console doesn't
work in both ways, help

Sendmail alone won't be enough. You need a POP3 server. Postfix (instead of sendmail, as sendmail is very big and has bad security history) with qpopper is quite easy to set up (and there are many tutorials available).
