Slackware 12 won't boot up

I decided to make the switch today and am running into a problem. I tried installing ubuntu's latest to no avail (infinite countdown of something), so I decided to try slackware. Installation went smoothly, but it won't boot. The last thing I saw the screen say before it froze was "triggering udevevents". Then a number of lines streamed by really fast. I noticed one had the word "error" in it and figured that this particular line probably had some sort of clue leading to the solution.

BUG: scheduling while atomic: udevd/0x00000002/1617
/* bunch of lines */
[<c0710f6c>] error_code+0x7c/0x84

I am clueless and haven't used linux since I was in middle-school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

you need to post a lot more. What were the lines leading up to that error?

You can boot into 'single' mode. After that, look at your logs for the errors.
