I would really recommend taking a little time to learn about GRUB and especially the 'chainloader' option. It's a great bootloader and down the road you'll almost definitely want to use it.
Advantage of Lilo is that it fits completely in the MBR. So a if menu.lst goes missing or gets corrupted for some reason, you can still boot. If, in the case of Grub, one of its files goes missing or gets corrupted, you immediately have problem.
Vincent, did as you suggested and I'm away and surfing..so easy when you know how. (How would I automate this ??)
ifconfig eth0 up
dhcpcd eth0
For Lilo changed /dev/hdb1 to /dev/hda and also added lba32 and I'm in.
Now to explore Slackware and see what Grub can do for me.
Thanks again
In the file /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf you can set up each interface as you need. You will find a small section for 'eth0' and all you should need to do is change:
Code:
DHCP[0]=""
to:
Code:
DHCP[0]="yes"
Let us know. Glad I could help you with these problems!
