Slackware 11.0 - installing Perl

Hi, Just installed Slackware 11.00. Building a printserver for a school I support. No desktop installed. Successfully set up a very old PC as a printserver. Can be seen over network so that's ok. This is my first linux build so was happy with outcome. I now want to install webmin. Want to be able to administer it from anywhere on the network. But webmin asks for perl so I remembered deleting option on initial build to install Perl etc. So I took out drive with succcessful build and replaced with another one. Installed 11.0 again but this time with Perl package selected(says it also contains other software). But no luck webmin still asks for Perl. So have downloaded perl-5.8.8-i486-3.tgz and will burn to cd. But this is where I am now stuck - can't seem to find a clear how-to on installing Perl. Or is it that Perl is already in the build I have done but I have to "activate" it? Thanks for any help

Perl should already be there if you selected it during the install. If not to install the package you downloaded, as root type "installpkg perl-5.8.8-i486-3.tgz" The program you are trying to install may be looking for perl in a different location as well. If that is the case you can probably create a symlink(shortcut) in the location it is looking to where it actually is located.

Thanks I will install as suggested. Your point about webmin looking elswhere is noted. I did a "whereis" perl but came up with nothing. Just burning CD now and will post result when done
