Slackware 10.2 and installing kernel 2.6
Ok, I'm new with all of this and I was wondering if someone can explain me which files I have to download from kernel.org and how to install them . I want to put a latest stable version of 2.6 kernel on my freshly installed slackware 10.2

http://www.shilo.is-a-geek.com/kernel14.htm will both be of help. Also, in the Slackware forum, look for the threads on kernel compiling. Welcome to LQ :D |
And do let us hear how 2.6.14 works out for you.

tnx guys I'll let you know when I put it. For the moment I have 2.6.13 which I've found on slackware dvd but when I load startx my mouse is not responding (usb an ps2), don't know why because with 2.4 everything works fine

I believe that the mouse device for 2.6.x is different than under 2.4.x - do a search of LQ, I think this came up today.
