skype for linux


I recently installed ubuntu 6.10 and am so far very impressed with the performance but I cannot get my skype phone to function properly.
the phone is a cyberphone K I can phone out on it but it will not
ring to let me know when an incoming call arrives.
I have set it up using exigea and am know using twinkle is there another setup available to download or am I not setting up correctly,please keep any answers faily simple.

Hi, I am also a newbie having installed Suse Linux 10.2 64 bit. As there is a huge learning curve ahead for me I thought it best to get my most used windows applications running first. Skype loaded OK, but I could not use the USB phone.
After much reading of these forums, I found that if you install it as a USB sound card with the phone plugged in it works. It does not affect the main sound card at all. You then need to go into skype and tell it to use the USB sound card for calls.
I hope this answers your question, as it is my first reply to a post and I don't want to be shouted at by all the very clever people here.

I installed Skype on Ubuntu 6.10 without any problems. I downloaded this package: Static binary tar.bz2 with Qt compiled in
